Deep Nature

All the while

the wind is blowing through

in overlapping waves,

intermittent frog and cricket calls

punctuate the air

that’s already awash with sound.

And twigs drop upon tin roof

to remind us that

all is not static.

Deadwood,

blow through

be aware

and alive to what is now,

we may not have it much longer.

Paluma, north Queensland.
