Here the trees speak
when your back is turned.
Sometimes they whisper,
or mutter and moan,
and off in the distance
you can hear one
shifting its roots,
purposefully
‘mid earth and stone
it creaks,
bark rubbing a voice,
they’re talking in turn..
Here at Cedar Junction
near Toy Creek,
I hear the trees speak.
